Series: The Red Thread
The series “The Red Thread” revives traditional Romanian craftsmanship and tools, transforming them into contemporary artworks. Drawing inspiration from a discovery in the attic of a Romanian village house, where beautifully crafted wooden toys awaited in woven baskets, the artist sought to reimagine these traditional elements.After carefully cleaning and arranging the toys, they were used as subjects for still lifes, paintings, and drawings. Through this process, the artist listened to the stories behind these objects, imbuing them with new meanings and materials. The series reflects a deep appreciation for the historical and cultural significance of traditional Romanian art forms, reinterpreting them within a modern context while honoring their origins.

Anca Vintilă Dragu, born in 1976 in Târgoviște, Romania, is a prominent ceramic artist whose transformative journey began after earning her degree from the National University of Arts Bucharest in 2016, where she specialized in Ceramics, Glass, and Metal. Her profound fascination with the transformative nature of ceramics led her to pivot from a career in economics and brand management to the world of ceramics, arts and design.
