His work has been showcased in numerous group exhibitions both in Romania and abroad. Additionally, he secured first prize for sculpture at the Studentfest in Sibiu and the Youth Award at the Arad Drawing Biennale. In 2004, he was awarded the Cultural Merit Order at the rank of Knight, and in 2007, he received the Excellence Award from the Union of Visual Artists. As a member of the Royal Society of Sculpture, Dup is known for his tempered expressionism and deep moral insights. His work frequently explores anatomical fragments and their dramatic presentation, reflecting a unique blend of anthropocentrism and rebellion. Over time, his approach has evolved from neo-expressionist figurative sculpture to a more avant-garde and Pop Art-influenced style.
Darie Dup’s creative process is deeply influenced by his fascination with anatomy and the transient nature of materials. He has experimented with various media, including wood and metal, seeking to impart a sense of freshness and impermanence to his sculptures. His recent use of plastic, with its vibrant colors and unconventional forms, reveals a playful and experimental side that contrasts with his earlier, more solemn expressionism.
